Washington, D.C. may lower the voting age for federal and local elections to 16. The legislation was introduced last Tuesday by D.C. council member Charles Allen (D-Ward 6), who said he was inspired by the high schoolers that came to D.C. to protest at the March for our lives.
Wow....just wow....so I'm guessing the decay of a society speeds up towards the end...the population becomes dumb/lazy and elects idiot populists....who in turn pass fucking reckless and irresponsible laws to allow even dumber idiots to elect even dumber politicians....
What's the benefit? Especially in a place like DC...
“I've got a phone that allows me to convene Americans from every walk of life, nonprofits, businesses, the private sector, universities to try to bring more and more Americans together around what I think is a unifying theme..." - Obama
The benefit is obvious. 16 year-old are captives in public schools most of the day. Most of them won't care enough to vote, but the mostly Democrat school system filled with lefty teachers will do their best to recruit said uninformed and easily manipulated kids into taking a "field trip" to vote. Naturally, they will all be prepped in what the "correct" vote is.
I could see that being useful in some states but this is a local DC proposal. How blue do you want to make it?

A lot of schools are opened on "election day". Its self defeating to allow 18 year olds to vote let alone 16. Men aren't even me until they can delay gratification and imagine what will happen as a consequence of their actions.

But, yeah, seriously bad idea. Should up it to 25, when the logic circuits in the brain are all formed.
My school was always open on Election Day when I grew up and still are. Also, I really don't know anyone whose place of work closes for Election Day. Instead, most people would go after school (when we were 18) and/or after or before work/school. Now, we always got the first day of Doe Season off but that usually fell a few days and/or a week after Thanksgiven (or was it Buck Season?).
Ok, weird about the school. I've lived in numerous counties in two states, and the schools were always used as polling places, so, to keep the crowds down and parking manageable, schools got closed.
Why are all the Gods such vicious cunts? Where's the God of tits and wine?
