It's coming along slowly. Still very green, though the farmers have mostly harvested theirs already. This years garden is pretty much a bust, it's all overgrown, and I haven't had the time to work on it.Montegriffo wrote:How's your wheat coming on. Next year though, I'll have some surplus labor ready to work my field.

Nah, homegrown, white, American labor. I just pay room and board, and I can do whatever I want to them.Okeefenokee wrote:Why libs love illegals, the post.GrumpyCatFace wrote:It's coming along slowly. Speaking of which... I had no idea that I could eat this! We have tons of it, and the leaves are delicious.

I'm setting aside a little piece of the garden for purslane now.

Re: Preparing for Uncertainty and Self Reliance
Wife and I harvested cherries today, 2 weeks earlier than last year.
Production in my one mature small tree and 2 saplings went from 1.5 gallons to 5 gallons.
After pitting we lost approx. 40% volume. Left us 12 quarts of processed cherries. They are pie cherries, so of course we made a couple pies.
Not sure what we will do with the rest.....suggestions?

Should be able to make preserves and jam pretty easily. Might even try a syrup for ice cream or pancakes.C-Mag wrote:Wife and I harvested cherries today, 2 weeks earlier than last year.

Did you pit 5 gallons of cherries by hand? Sounds grueling...
