The charge cable has at least two wires in it for power and ground. Those wires were plugged into the outlet. When the wires touched the water, the circuit shorted as the water conducted all that power through the bath water, and through her body. That's at least 20 mA, depending on how the bathroom circuit was wired. Probably more like 60, since she died.

The battery in the phone had nothing to do with it. It was the cable being submerged while being plugged into the outlet. A pool of water will draw all of that power out of that outlet and probably set the cable on fire to boot.

I don't believe her parents were dumb enough to hot wire a USB sans IGCF.

She was murdered and they dropped the phone in the tub beqcause "whoops that's what happens when you're in the tub."

I don't believe this. You have to go way way out your way to manage to kill yourself by dropping a small computer in the tub.

Madison Coe was electrocuted after she either grabbed her phone that was plugged in or plugged in her phone, her grandmother Donna O'Guinn told KCBD-TV. The teen was visiting her father in New Mexico when the incident occurred.

“There was a burn mark on her hand, the hand that would have grabbed the phone. And that was just very obvious that that’s what had happened," O'Guinn told the news station.

It just says she grabbed a phone that was plugged in, not that she dropped it in the water. Picking up a phone with a wet hand has never harmed me.

I agree there seems to be something missing from this.
