Went to a Republican Meeting

Post by Martin Hash »

Myself, my wife, Gwynne, and local Conservative blogger & Republican cause-celeb, Kelly Hinton, went to a "First Friday" Republican get-together last night. A few candidates were given time to speak. My Libertarian friend, Jacob Kerr, held his own, but the doofus running for Mayor totally turded it. I'm more recognized among Republicans than I am among Democrats, and my wife liked the people better. Too bad they are the anti-tax, Nouveau Aristocracy Party.

As I've said before: people should be taxed, not business, and business should NOT be a way to shelter money from personal taxation.

It wasn't a regular meeting but I've heard they don't use Robert's Rules of Order, so maybe not as bad as Dem meetings. Lots of folks came up to talk, many who had already been introduced to me through DB seeding my podcasts.

Probably not. Nothing really gets decided at these things.

Is there a way for you to tell if those are getting out on a wide basis or just locally?

Teeny tiny numbers of people are listening to it. As I've said before, I think I appeal to about 1% of the population, which is enough if it can get to a large enough audience. I also think fame brings popularity; if you watch the Scott Adams podcasts, you'll see what I'm talking about.

p.s. I've also had my son, Heath, sample some folks on the video Intros, and he doesn't know what you're talking about them being hard to watch? Though he is one of the 1% who like me, and his friends are similar kinds of people, so that's probably it.

Not so much hard to watch as hard to listen to. The vocal modulation when you lean in to the camera isn't always appealing, although I have noticed it less and less (don't know if I got used to it or it changed slightly). I just watched the victimhood intro and didn't find anything bothersome at all.

I think there's something about getting used to it.

I can remember thinking how terrible the Selfie videos on YouTube were, now I literally don't know what used to set me off?

p.s. I'm still going to take a break until I have a bigger audience.
