Yes they did go against the public vote. However I think this was a good thing, funny as it was for a bunch of kids to call for it to be named BoatyMcBoatface no one deserves the honour more than Sir David Attenborough. He is a national treasure and at 90 years old he is still working on some of the best wildlife programs ever made.
