I was given the family cabbage slicer. Which my my Mom and Aunts hold dear. It was in pretty rough shape.

Took it all apart. Repaired the wood, replaced the old rusted screws with new brass screws, sharpened the knives.

Then made a batch of Sauer Kraut in March, 35 pounds of cabbage, used the giant 20 gallon Red Wing Crock. Kraut should be ready in June.

I was happily surprised that the slicer was made out of Cherry wood. I treated it with Mineral oil, then a 50-50 mix of mineral oil and bees wax.
