*yawn* at the "evil state" nonsense.
We aren't paying those taxes because we want to pay to "the state". We pay those high taxes because we feel a sense of obligation to each other. The state is meant to be our property. We have a welfare state because we want there to be one, not because "The State" says so. You don't. Fair enough. Vivre la difference. But the State is meant to be the ownership of its citizens, and its interests the interests of the State. Thus we have a welfare state. The average tax rate for Danes is closer to half, not two-thirds of one's income, btw.

Apparently Danes are also the most indebted people on Earth too. Do you think you'd have to borrow so much money to buy stuff if you just cut out the middle man and paid less in taxes though?BjornP wrote: Tue Mar 10, 2020 3:50 pm *yawn* at the "evil state" nonsense.

Very based postBjornP wrote: Tue Mar 10, 2020 2:33 pmNeo-Liberalism is just cultural self-annihilation through the commodyfing of all aspects of society, including sense of self. The inevitable result of Neo-Liberalism is Chinese-style State Capitalism, where all members of society become mere product-citizens. If that's what you consider an ideal state, good for you. I also believe in not having a single One World Culture, so you just do your thing, we'll do ours.heydaralon wrote: Tue Mar 10, 2020 1:36 pm In Denmark, even in the private sector you work for the goverment until Thursday morning. At least 60% of your income goes into taxes and as much as 72%.
In America we fought wars over shit like this.
$45 to drive on a bridge to Sweden or Germany (no joke Stalinism is alive and well in Denmark and far worse than in the USSR).
Self Loathing would be to put up with this Bjorn. Why are you still living there? You don't have to be angry about this, I guess. I am angry for you though. That is insanity. Please move.
At least join the Liberal Alliance...
Oh, and Liberal Alliance basicly collapsed after the last election. Most of the (quite young) party's leadership either failed to even get 1 seat in parliament, or they simply up and left the party entirely. Them Ayn Rand nutters fit in about as well as immigrant jihadis here.

Communism and capitalism are material religions. Both have the same destination. I like Bjorn's third way posting. National Socialism ftw.

Yeah, Danes IIRC have the highest degree of personal debt in the world. And yeah, Danes would probably have borrowed so much money even if we had lower taxes. Whether you can't afford a new house or a plasma screen TV at a 25% income tax rate, or you can't afford it at 50%, at the end of the day... you still can't afford it. 82% of household debt comes from the housing market. And as long as you're able to pay your mortgage on time, it doesn't matter that alot of people have a mortgage to pay.heydaralon wrote: Tue Mar 10, 2020 4:31 pm

North Korea? Uhmm, no, given how NK isn't a democracy, doesn't have any freedom of speech, that you'd get executed or put in a concentration camp for voicing a contrary to the Kim's opinion, and that the only man with any spare fat in that country is its totalitarian third generation dynastic ruler... then, no, it's naturally not owned by its citizens. It's a republic where only one person has the right to declare what the interests of the public are. Only his opinion matters. Comparing Denmark to NK is at least as, though frankly more, hysterical and hyperbolic as the "Trump is Hitler" nonsense, HD.

Denmark is fine. Considering all the crap they've been through they're holding up well. A nice mix of bohemians, anarchists and petty bourgeoisie. Decent food and drink. OK weather and nice landscape. Even if I find the lack of forests and mountains disturbing they make it up with plenty of scenic coastline.

I didn't compare it to North Korea Bjorn. I made a comment about Denmark, then asked a separate question about North Korea that was unrelated.BjornP wrote: Wed Mar 11, 2020 12:52 amYeah, Danes IIRC have the highest degree of personal debt in the world. But don't you think that in many ways Denmark is similar to North Korea Bjorn? Like isn't Hygge (that's a Danish word by the way in case you were wondering) culturally the same as Korean Juche? Neither Korea nor Denmark likes people who deviate from the norm. Danes' obsession with their flag mirrors North Korean zealotry. Have you ever seen a North Korean parade? It is a lot like a Danish holiday. Its scary stuff.

Deviation from the norm shall not be tolerated. Everyone must assimilate. We are better than Juche. We require no leaders. We are all one. We... are the Bork Bork.

Denmark is locked down for two weeks. Guess we will be getting a lot more Bjorn posting.
