City-states are awesome Martin. The only way to balance power is to distribute it, and city states do that beautifully. The UN, on the other hand, is a looming tyranny that would collect all power to itself if given an opportunity.

The UN is an American institution, just like all the rest.

World Bank, IMF, WTO, NATO, etc, it's all America.

If Americans do not defend and uphold them, nobody else would.

There is only one free country, and as such, it is the only one country in the end.

The UN replaced the League of Nations, both are US created entities, and both have ended up becoming useless because of the people we have allowed into them.

As for the rest, if the US collapsed, the world would go into a dark age... just as with what happened when Rome collapsed. The US isn't like Russia, or even the EU... for if the EU collapsed Europe would go into a Dark Age again, but the US due to the lack of coherence of China, Russia, and the Middle East right now, would be able to maintain its world dominance by becoming the world producer again.

The US has a massive infrastructure that is laying dormant... I am waiting for the time that machine wakes up again. For me though, I think it's closer than most people realize. If China keeps going the way it is, we may see it start to waken before Trump's final year in his second term.
