Exactly, glad to see you now understand how important it is to define Brexit before rushing into a decision which could be the most damaging thing to hit Britain since the Luftwaffe.DBTrek wrote: Thu Nov 14, 2019 11:42 amMontegriffo wrote: Thu Nov 14, 2019 11:29 am
Since there are multiple ways of leaving the EU, none of which was defined in the advisory referendum then it is sensible to find out what the electorate meant by Brexit before committing the country to the most important decision since the second world war.... blah, blah, blahdy, blah blah...

For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

I only see a nation of Brits still hostage to the EU despite their command to leave. And their angry citizens taking out their frustrations by presuming to lecture Americans about totalitarianism.

Hostage would imply that the EU is preventing the UK from leaving. That is not the truth.DBTrek wrote: Thu Nov 14, 2019 11:54 amMontegriffo wrote: Thu Nov 14, 2019 11:49 am Exactly, glad to see you now understand how important it is to define Brexit before rushing into a decision which could be the most damaging thing to hit Britain since the Luftwaffe.

Disagreement about the definition of Brexit is what is preventing us from leaving.

But I can tell you this - if you decide to leave, but another power forces you to stay against your will, your ass is a hostage or a prisoner.

It's only rape if Britons use the safe word, but the Belgians still put it in their ass. Britons just might like being "prisoner" in this relationship. Who are we to judge?

Only one party has been in power since the vote and it has been their committed aim to leave.DBTrek wrote: Thu Nov 14, 2019 12:06 pmSay again? Unfortunately, all Theresa May could come up with as a definition was ''Brexit means Brexit''.
She did come up with a deal but it failed to pass Parliament due to a lack of support from her own party.
Then BoJo took over and, despite twice voting against May's deal, he tweaked it and got it past its first stage to become law.
So the only people who have stopped us from leaving are the people who are committed to leave because they are squabbling amongst themselves over the definition of Brexit.
Still, one of the main aims of the Brexit movement was to return power to Parliament. Of course, they are now claiming that Parliament has too much power which just goes to prove there is no way to keep a Brexiteer happy.

Maybe leaving the EU would make them happy.
You’re right tho ... your excuses and tortured logic for not following the will of the people will never make them happy. Go figure.

Well, if the people could agree what their will was it would make it easier.DBTrek wrote: Thu Nov 14, 2019 12:37 pm Maybe leaving the EU would make them happy.

A binding referendum with clear choices on how to leave rather than an advisory referendum on a vague notion would be a good idea but since the Brexiteer lies have now been exposed they are too scared that the public will reject their plans and vote to remain.
Problem is, there is no possible deal which is an improvement on our current deal and only the hedgefund managers betting against the UK and a bunch of rabid nationalists want a no-deal.
Still, your oversimplification of a massively complex decision is sure to help. I shall pen a letter and explain to the powers that be that it's all very easy really and they should just pull their fingers out.
