You may be right. Algeria isn't a conflict I am knowledgeable on. I have a Savage War for Peace on my bookshelf, but I have not read it yet, though I want to. Didn't the French Army send paratroopers in a coup?

Why was France so unstable after WW2, as compared to say Britain? I'm not even sure what number Republic France is on at this point...
