Re: THE ERA OF TRUMP
Can't we just use troops and drones to patrol the border? The feds have jurisdiction over the border, correct? I don't see the benefit to having a big beautiful wall besides being able to say that we have a big beautiful wall. I'm sure it'll be a cool wall and all, but then what? Atleast at the end of California's ~$50b high speed rail boondoggle we'll have a cool train to show for it

That's like my favorite rap of all time now, I think Trump can get away with it though, the piper won't have to be paid until after he's out of office, just forces the Democrats into being those bad people who took the punch bowl away.StCapps wrote:Trump has a monetary plan and it involves a lot of toner.Smitty-48 wrote:Too busy for Canada on line three? Nuhuh. We're revising the plans right now.pineapplemike wrote:Can't we just use troops and drones to patrol the border? The feds have jurisdiction over the border, correct? Here's an early draft.

That might actually be more expensive than building a wall which requires less troops to secure.pineapplemike wrote:Can't we just use troops and drones to patrol the border? Should probably move the wall up north of Houston as well. Ah wellOkeefenokee wrote:Nuhuh. Fuck that train, yo, build an autobahn through the desert, no speed limit, charge a toll to drive on it, build it, and we will come, I would drive all the way to Cali, cash in hand, to take Gojira all the way up to 170 knots within the bounds of the law.pineapplemike wrote:Can't we just use troops and drones to patrol the border? ^ I'm with you, I like that idea way more than a train to nowhere
Assuming we multiply their budget by 10, could we theoretically have 580k personnel with 168k vehicles and 2600 aircraft watching the 2000 miles of land? More than one UAV for every mile of land sounds do-ableThrough a combination of fences and patrols. The Department of Homeland Security has fenced off 651 miles of the 1,969-mile border between the U.S. and Mexico. The barriers are mostly near urban areas and international bridges; the U.S. Customs and Border Protection agency uses patrols to guard the more remote borderlands in California, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas. The agency — currently larger than it's ever been, with over 58,000 personnel — spends $4 billion a year protecting the southwestern border with the help of 16,875 vehicles, 269 aircraft, 300 watercraft, and 300 camera towers. It even uses aerial drones to enhance the scrutiny.

I have an idea. What if you built into the wall itself a cargo pipeline that would transport entire shipping containers to another port in the Gulf of Mexico more cheaply than it would cost to continue sailing through the Panama Canal?
You could eventually fork off branches to move goods to industrial centers as well.
The border security would be secondary.

I like it. I've wanted a cross country bank tube thing ever since I went to Wisconsin and found out they don't have anything I like.Speaker to Animals wrote:I have an idea. Note:
I went off last night now I'm 30 pages behind. You folks are really dusting it up on this one.
https://www.ssa.gov/employer/ssnv.htm as is E-Verify https://www.uscis.gov/e-verify/question ... on-service
But employers aren't necessarily using it. What you are talking about is making it criminal for an employer to verify the identity of a person. Sorry, that's forcing an employer to do the governments job under the threat of criminal penalty.
Further we're not just talking about jobs. We are also talking about the impact to infrastructure and services paid for by American taxpayers, we are also talking about health and disease concerns, and we are talking about how illegal immigration keeps working wages down for average US citizens.

WRONG - they system is already on line and has been for years! It's call the Social Security Number Verification Service.Kath wrote:Are you kidding? I'm sorry, your SSN is not valid, so we cannot hire you.

Do you want the problem fixed ?Kath wrote: We know who all the vegetable and fruit picking companies are. Really not difficult to go to the owner and ask to see their employment rolls.
The reality is, Carlus, that if we wanted to fix this problem, we would.
