I just finished Kim last week. Great novel.
Also The Riddle of the Sands by Erskine Childers. It was published in 1903. One of the first spy novels. A couple of English yachtsmen discover a German plot. I will say no more but reading it and realizing it was written before WWI is fascinating. Erskine Childers was a great writer and clearly knows his nautical stuff. He was an Irish nationalist and was executed by the Irish Free State during the Irish Civil War.
I would add H. P. Lovecraft to the list, naturally.

I am very interested in reading The Ancient City (1864) by Coulanges. This book looks incredible.

Correct.
In fact, if you want to hit some of his lesser known works I'd strongly suggest:

Dashiel Hammet wrote some good detective fiction. The Maltese Falcon is a Noir Classic in both film and print.

Edgar Allan Poe wrote his anthology in the mid 1800s , so if anthologies count then The Tell-Tale Heart anthology is amazing.

Not that I know of, but that particular anthology is amazing. I don’t care if someone put together a selection of someone else’s great works. I thought this was done before 1950, though.
