Yes, worst POTUS in history. It's too soon to be objective, but Barrack Obama may give him a run for the money, especially when it comes to illegal domestic spying.

I haven't read it yet, but I found a book called 1917: Lenin, Wilson, and the Birth of the New World Disorder by Arthur Herman. He views them as uncompromising ideological self proclaimed messiahs whose tragic visions led to many of the problems the world faces today and also many millions of deaths in the past and present century. Looks great, and is probably right up your alley.

That sounds good.

First review I found on Amazon
I bought this book on the recommendation on an (almost former) friend. (Okay, I think our friendship will survive, but I’m going to give the guy a good talking to.)

Naively, I kept going even after reading the Preface, which was negative about both Wilson and Lenin who had a “dogmatic belief in their own mission,” further saying “Lenin’s dream (in contrast to Wilson’s) was of one class of human beings obliterating other classes.”
Looks outstanding, Lenin lovers hate it. I'm going to get it.

Tora, Tora, Tora and Midway are 2 great ones from the Pacific Theater. Both were very well researched and they had a commitment to getting the story right.

Tora Tora Tora was alright. My favorite "old" WW2 movie is probably the desert fox or the Caine Mutiny. I love Humphrey Bogart movies in general.

When you get on this subject the boo birds come out nitpicking Historical Accuracy. I don't have a problem with pointing out historical face palms in films; like the Battle of Stirling Bridge...……. but there's no Fucking Bridge. However, I have problem with snooty people who claim they can't enjoy historically inaccurate films, and by god you shouldn't either.

I love Battle of the Bulge with Hank Fonda, Telle Savalas and Charles Bronson, its historical awful, but I love the flick.
Glad to hear a veteran say that about battle of the bulge! As a kid I watched that with my dad probably 20 times or more. He always said I'd get excited and kind of dance around when ghey start singing the Panzer song! Then he'd be like you'd make a good little Nazi!...hahaha. damn was the colonel cool. Love the tragic element in it.

Shows like that are a tribute to the great actors of the day. They could take a crappy script and an F'd up story and make something you wanted to watch. That was Quint of Jaws fame playing the Nazi Colonel. Robert Shaw.

Nobody likes subs? How about Run Silent Run Deep? It was written by a Pacific fleet veteran, Captain Edward Beach. When I was a kid I picked up a copy of his book: Submarine! Each chapter alternated between the missions of his boat and the most historic sub missions of the war. Blew me away, highly recommended, and back in print.

While we're on the high seas, I'll mention Sink the Bismarck also. A great piece of naval history, a battleship at sea fataly disabled by aircraft was a turning point in their decline as capital ships.

Has Zulu been mentioned? Young bloody Michael Caine!
