I think I see some element of genius here.

The dems are going to blow their wad against this confirmation. It's still not going to stop the confirmation because this guy is just another John Roberts.

Ginsberg is going to die and will be replaced. They might have greater numbers in after the Midterms, but politically they already are burning their brand with these antics. I think there is a good chance we get another Scaliaite next and they won't really be able to stop it without looking like total assholes and losing seats in the House, as well as possibly state offices in swing states.

I've yet to see a limit to their hatred and intolerance, but I do know at some point they will go too far for the vast majority of independents. I don't belief this latest tantrum will stop the confirmation either.

I see the GOP gaining in the Senate (55 seats +/-) and holding the House, but losing a little ground. When the Adrenechrome treatments finally fail with Ginsburg and she croaks, the same thing will happen. Trump will be handed a list and he will pick a name. As you say Kavanaugh = Roberts which will likely be the same as the Ginsburg replacement.

When their tantrums fail to block confirmation, and the people reject them in November, they will turn to street violence increasingly, and violence against the government. Probably starting by arson of ICE offices.
