Watch the McLaughlin Report. That dude used to be hilarious on there. It is a political talk show that started the format. It is wildly more entertaining than the current crop of them. Buchanan's paleo-conservatism is pretty awesome to watch. I read his WW2 book years ago and loved it. As I have learned more about the conflict, I have become less enamored with it.

I read Republic in college. This was back when Carlin used to plug that book. I liked it. I like Buchanan. He is a great writer. Many political pundits come off as self serving and hypocritical. I do not feel that way about Buchanan. I read an article about the McLaughlin report. The people on that show make less than $1000 per episode (way less) and that payout doesn't include travel expenses. I don't think the guy would have been on it for decades if he didn't believe what he is saying. That being said, I think he looks at the American past with rose colored glasses, the same way progressive pundits look at America's future with a similar lens tint. They are not ideologically identical, but I view G. Gordon Libby the same way that I view Buchanan. Thinkers who are extremely entertaining and compelling (and often heroic), but not people whose ideas I swallow whole. Liddy is another Nixon era dude who has written some remarkable books. Read his autobiography Will. It is still my favorite of all time.GloryofGreece wrote: Sat Sep 15, 2018 2:01 pmA Republic Not and Empire and Right All Along are both good.heydaralon wrote: Sat Sep 15, 2018 1:47 pm Watch the McLaughlin Report. What's the best Pat Buchanan book to read for someone who's never read one of his books?
No man's life, liberty, or property are safe while the legislature is in session
