I haven't dug into it much; just getting back to reality after a 3 1/2 day camping trip. I did, however, spend those days with 10 teenagers, most between 17-19. These are serious people. Most are off to school in the fall. My nephew is going to be an engineer!
We had some chats; not about anything too heavy, but these kids know how to think. I come away very optimistic. I try to remember that the noisy make the most noise because, well, they are noisy.

I consider this a good thing; they are attempting to use the system as designed, rather than just bitching about it. It's healthy. It's the adults bitching about their method that are pissing me off.
They aren't going to change anyone's mind; their not knowing all the facts is to be expected. They are teenagers. This is how we learn.
As long as these kids are willing to openly listen to rational arguments from the opposing side without shouting them down, then we're good. We promise to keep our arguments on point and not to bore them with inane hockey talk
No truck nor trade with the Temperance Union, 18th amendment ain't happening again, at least until it is completely submerged into the fog of America that never was, in the meantime, there's actually nothing more to discuss, other than cold dead hands if you wanna, otherwise take a lap.

But, however, the 18th actually did happen once, IRL.
GIve that a think.... it actually happened, right here in the good ole USA.
Anything is possible, brother, literally anything.

P.S.: Scotty Harnell FTW (so far).
As I said, when the 18th disappears back into the fog of the America that was, then it might become ascendant again.
Nation of do gooder crusaders doesn't change, Great Awakening never quits, but as of right now, nobody's buying, so cold dead hands anytime, I guess, but Temperance Union is otherwise just ritual hectoring without reason, all Temperance leading to hatchetation in the end.
I mean, they haven't got a full on Anti Saloon League going again, still too fresh in the national memory.
None the less, it's still the Wets v. the Dry's, the Dry's just ain't got it back to 1921 yet, they're probably back where they were in the 1890's or so right now.
So, yeah, could happen again, but the last folly is not yet forgotten, and until it is, the Dry's ain't getting anywhere fast.
Bear in mind, it was a nation of free drunkards until it was incited to be a nation of scofflaws, but it's been a nation of scofflaws ever since, long after the 18th was repealed. Burn the village to save the village just incites them to dig in deep.
