Well there's all of that to point out his treachery, but we could add the little ole factoid that he invaded his own country, as the only sitting POTUS to ever ride up front to lead federal troops on the march for the blood of American citizens, all to enforce Massa Alex's revenue system.

Yeah, everyone skips past the Whiskey Rebellion and Shays War when canonizing George. We probably had true liberty in this country for 3-5 years. Then we just started the slow creep all over again.

The idea of empire is strong to speculators and would-be generals.

In the 20th century, I've always been partial to Ike. Not saying I agreed with all his policies, but I think he did some great stuff and was level headed in the face of international tension. I really like the dude. He saw the big picture too. Got pissed at Israel, France, and the UK for Suez, despite them being allies, because it happened right around the time of Soviet Hungary invasion and the world was focused on Suez and not Communist expansion. He would deliberately mislead the press and say vague shit, at the expense of sounding dumb, when in reality it seemed like he just wanted to be low key and under the radar. I think he also built the highway system. Ike is alright in my book.

Two thousand years from now, what good parts will they take from our republic, what will they avoid?

You can be certain that there won't be a central bank - at least, not one with carte blanche powers.
SJWs are a natural consequence of corporatism.

I read a Sci-Fi book about 20 years ago where the Catholic Church was the Interstellar Bank, oversaw contractual law and had a monopoly on all Interstellar Communications.

I firmly believe we are in the early stages of that 21st C Revolution that will see the end of a century of Progressivism. IMO, it's still up in the air as to whether more Liberty or Tyranny will win out. Should be a fun ride.
By progressive you mean, social democratic or something else ?
