My impression from history reading is that once Cavalry is among infantry, even if they have rifles, the infantry is fucked. It's harder to parse the unfamiliar aspect. Running through my head of "1st contact" battles, Magellan comes to mind getting slaughtered in the Philippines.

Well disciplined infantry will form square, to hold the cavalry at bay like a phalanx, so generally, you have break their ranks first, then when they turn and flee, that's when you send the cavalry in, to run them down from behind.

First you hit them with field artillery, then you close with you own troops, cavalry protecting the flanks, then when you've broken their lines, the cavalry charges to finish them off.

The cavalry is not so much the stronger arm, as it is the longer arm, if you send your cavalry in at the wrong time, they'll get annihilated, like charge of the Light Brigade.

This even applies to main battle tanks now, because if the terrain favours the infantry, and they are well trained, with anti-armour weapons, they can slaughter you, so you have to pick the right time and place to charge, even if your cavalry is armoured with depleted uranium.

It's like the Saudis in Yemen, they have Abrams main battle tanks, but they don't know how to use them, so they are getting their asses handed to them, by a bunch of goatherders.

Wonder Woman is another superhero fantasy, so start there.

As far as the beach battle. The Nazi's, Oh, excuse me, the Imperial German Infantry fought individually on the beach. There was no inherent leader displayed, no one giving orders, no one setting a line for the Germans. The battle quickly becomes point blank, hand to hand that favor the fantastic Amazons. The Amazons win with minimal losses.

Ludendorff is cast as the villain in the show. Historic Germans are one of the few people you can cast as villains, besides white American Males. So, Ludendorff gets tapped. The show equates Wonder Woman not only as a God, but a God Killer, more powerful than Ares. Which really overblows anything that happens in the future.

She is frankly shown equal to or greater than Superman.

Smitty, that's exactly my point, Infantry with no square, no artillery or their own cavalry means a slaughter. As for the powers, the lack of any form of logical restrictions or physics are what make me hate comic book movies. In Dead Pool he "protects" his girl in a glass coffin before she falls hundreds of feet. She'd be jelly at the bottom of the that box, inertia you know. Same with Ironman falling out of the sky. Just once I'd like to see a Super-strong struggle to get under the center of gravity of the object he's lifting, rather than obviously be lifting a styrofoam boulder. Even when I was a kid watching the $6m Man I realized that without a metal spine and ungraded torso connecting the bionic arm and legs he'd not be able to lift shit.
