I just got done building one of these......... but I used a hand forged shoe and a railroad spike as the knocker.

Shit, I still can't figure out how they were able to build wooden spears. How do they get the wood to grow sharpened and smoothed out like that when trees in the wild have bark, limbs, and roots. It makes 0 sense.

See this stick? It is made out of wood. The same exact thing as that tree. Stay with me. Notice how this stick that is sharp and pointy does not have any of those tree leaves or stuff sticking out like branches. How can this be. This is not an optical illusion. These two pictures are both wooden objects. Archeologists have found sticks from 30-45 years ago that are sharp like this and they have used carbon dating to determine that they are made out of wood. We can provide guesswork on how early man was able to get that stuff so pointed, but no one truly knows. How could you? A lot of the writing we find from that period is about JFK or Marilyn Monroe. Some is about the Cuban Missile crisis or whatnot. But most of it is not about sharpening sticks, so we just have to guess how these people managed to do it. They were a clever lot, those people of the past. Very smart. They probably bred trees that had no leaves, and no branches and continually isolated the sharp genes to make spears. It must have been a painstaking process, but it was worth it. Very worth it. I want you all to think about this as you eat dinner with your Family this Thanksgiving.
