Yup, it's also why if you tell someone from Sicily that they are Italian or visa Vera's you'll be lucky if you don't get something thrown at you.

same thing with germans in bavaria. i think it probably correlates to people who don't have anything they can be proud of on a personal level, so they latch onto whatever they can find at the group level...like their accent.

If you had to pick a European country outside of Scandinavia to live in, which one would you pick? Also, which one would be the worst choice in your opinion?

I'm gonna be boring and say Netherlands. It's not too far away, they seem to have the same down-to-earth attitude that I like about my own country and they even have a constitutional monarchy, too.

Worst is, of course, Belarus. They're often referred to as "The Last Dictatorship in Europe", and make Russia look like a model democracy in comparison.
