Using modern weapons vs. bronze swords? Yeah, that's a shocker

The iron age Romans and their "bronze swords..." Why don't you tell us some more about your ideas on critical thinking, Grumpy?

Negative.

That's not how Romans operated.

If you want to see how it would turn out, then go look at the battle of Stalingrad.

edit:

Unlimited ammo and no need to reload your magazines would be awesome..

It was a simulation, poor though it may be, but at least something concrete rather than a bunch of soldier-sniffers imagining how it might have been.

p.s. I have no dog in this fight except the entertainment aspect. It's a funny Bear-vs-Tiger debate.
p.p.s. I think YouTube has settled Bear-vs-Tiger: Polar bears rule!

It's totally unrealistic. We don't have weapons with unlimited ammo. We have to change magazines regularly. They wouldn't even be able to carry as much ammunition that you see expended in that simulation in the first place. The Romans would not randomly charge the Marines out of formation. The Romans would not simply surround them and confront them like that.

Nobody does that. If you are faced with a superior force, you will hit them asymmetrically. You will impose operational friction to wear down their supply and mobility. You will use ambushes and traps to slowly gather up some of their arms to help turn the tide as well.

That simulation simply doesn't simulate how armies work. It doesn't simulate reality at all.

That term does not mean what you think it means.

Fine, they had iron. I'm sure that would have made a difference. The result would be the same as WWI infantry charges against machine guns. Just cutting down grass until they give up.

A 30 round magazine weighs about a pound.

Just a rough guess from that video, but each soldier had to have fired off at least two thousand rounds. Which comes out to about 66 lbs of ammo..
