For a long time, Cornwall was the only source of easily found tin. It's long been known that it was traded throughout Europe during the Bronze age so I guess it's not really too surprising that it got as far as the furthest parts of the Med'.

One of the things they discovered when they re-examined the grave goods of the Sutton Hoo ship's burial (Saxon King Raedwald AD 625) were small black beads. Not much interest had been paid to them in the past but when they were subjected to scientific analysis they turned out to be a type of bitumen from Persia.

Ancient international trade links are being discovered all the time.
Nothing new about globalisation it appears. In fact, it has always been an important part of the advancement of the species. ;)

It's pretty obvious that historians understanding of what really happened in ancient times is just a wild ass guess written in history books.

More of an educated guess based on archaeological evidence.
Those black beads show that there may have been some sort of trade between Vikings and Persians.

This from a guy who gets his stories about history from a site like "Ancient Origins"..

This forum just proves to me on a daily basis that it is today's right-wingers who are the staunchest followers of the postmodernist "all knowledge is relative/facts are just beliefs" bullshit of the 21st century.

https://www.livescience.com/oldest-larg ... cture.html

The oldest and largest Maya monumental structure on record has just been discovered after scientists shot millions of lasers from a plane to map an area in southern Mexico.

At the newfound site, called Aguada Fénix, researchers found an artificial plateau measuring about 0.9 miles (1.4 kilometers) long, 0.2 miles (399 meters) wide and between 33 and 50 feet (10 and 15 m) high. And it likely served as a communal gathering place for the Maya.

Aguada Fénix bears some similarities to San Lorenzo, an even larger artificial plateau built by the Olmec, who thrived there from 1400 B.C. to 1150 B.C. in what is now the Mexican state of Veracruz. San Lorenzo also has colossal sculptures of stone heads and thrones, a clue that the Olmec society already had a hierarchy because it was honoring certain elites.
