He said he would do it. I don't get the reaction. He said he was going to do it.
Guess they thought he would be like Obama and not do anything he said he would do in eight years.

Re: THE ERA OF TRUMP
It's occurred to me that while we're all whinging about the illegal immigration from the south, and about those who overstayed their visas, we should also add the legal use of H1-B visas to import workers to replace Americans who are both better paid, and have greater legal protections. Supposedly the imported have skills that native workers don't have, but they are often trained by the Americans whose jobs they are taking.
I've read that when a company actually does need a worker with a rare skill set, they often cannot bring him over because the H1-B visa slots are already taken by large companies looking for cheap labor.

Yeah, we've talked about that too. I hope the President tackles that one too. It doesn't resonate with the working class though. So that may not happen.jbird4049 wrote:It's occurred to me that while we're all whinging about the illegal immigration from the south, and about those who overstayed their visas, we should also add the legal use of H1-B visas to import workers to replace Americans who are both better paid, and have greater legal protections. Yes, but I've heard he is also blocking the Iraqi interpreters, and their families, when not only worked for us, but already have completed, or nearly so, the two year long approval process to come over.Okeefenokee wrote:He said he would do it. Restated, thanks for risking your life for us, but die because politics.

http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/U/ ... 8-17-31-55Trump acted Saturday to fulfill a key portion of his pledge to "drain the swamp" in Washington, banning administration officials from ever lobbying the U.S. on behalf of a foreign government and imposing a separate five-year ban on other lobbying.
Trump has said individuals who want to aid him in his quest to "Make America Great Again" should focus on the jobs they will be doing to help the American people, not thinking ahead to the future income they could rake in by peddling their influence after serving in government.
"Most of the people standing behind me will not be able to go to work," Trump joked, referring to an array of White House officials who lined up behind him as he sat at his Oval Office desk. The officials included Vice President Mike Pence, chief of staff Reince Priebus, senior strategist Steve Bannon and counselor Kellyanne Conway. "So you have one last chance to get out."
Trump said he talked about the ban a lot during the campaign and "we're now putting it into effect."
He must have a checklist.

Re: THE ERA OF TRUMP
A lot of the replaced workers are barely above the working class. Not all the jobs are six figure white collar position. What is some technical support geek in office cave making 40k or 50k a year? Maybe in some rust belt town, or in the South, that might qualify as lower middle class, but anywhere else? Not likely.Okeefenokee wrote:Yeah, we've talked about that too.
