Well you're of course free to employ logic, but "I don't like the sources, I want other sources to be cherry picked to my confimation bias" is of course a logically fallacious position in of itself, and glaringly so.Hwen Hoshino wrote:My word is the law!!!!!!!!!!! Fuck logic, right.Smitty-48 wrote:No one is required to nor should they; cite any sources in the Mess, anyone demanding sources to be cited in the Mess, is in bad form, a gentleman's word is good enough in the Mess, the Mess is not a formal debating club, take that sort of thing elsewhere.
A gentleman's word is not the law, but in the Mess, a gentleman's word is sufficient for the purposes of discussion, there are formalities in the Mess, but as it is not a courts martial, none of them are related to providing evidence in the dock.

What was your favorite mess game Smitty? I remember talking to you about some game you played with an elite British unit (SAS or Marines maybe) over at the old place but can't recall any of the details.
For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

I only played billiards in the Mess, I believe the game you're referring to was with the Paras, Mess Tin Rugby, but that wasn't in the Mess, that was in a quonset hut out in the back nine of the camp.Montegriffo wrote:What was your favorite mess game Smitty? Rugby with the Paras now I remember, Sounded dangerous to play but hillarious to watch.
Actual Billiards or snooker? Hard to get a game of billiards anywhere now. With my aged eyes I have to settle for 8 ball pool these days.

Further evidence that you are culturaly more American than British Empire these days. Hardly suprising I suppose. Still playing international rugby though, albeit as a 2nd tier nation.

Re: The Mess
British North Americans are British about many things, and American about many others, in many ways, we are more British than the British, because we live next door to the United States, and thus dig in our heels on our Victorian roots, in the face of the uncultured behemoth.Montegriffo wrote:Further evidence that you are culturaly more American than British Empire these days. Certainly though, ice hockey rules here, and besides, rugby is for pouffe's
