So finding employers who hire illegals is challenging, so we can't do it. Check. I see the light, now, the magical wall will solve all of our problems.
Me thinks that none of you understands databases and how helpful they can be in ferreting out what's going on. Seriously, how hard do you think it is to walk onto Jim-Bob's tomato picker company and ask to see the papers for everyone in the fields? I'm guessing it will cost slightly less than $20 Billion.
You find an illegal and you put Jim Bob out of business. So what? He broke the fucking law. Use him as the poster child to the rest of the businesses. Staff the problem.
Oh, well.... Trump and his dick suckers lack imagination, I suppose.

Put Jim Bob out of business, eventually someone picks up the slack. His farm goes to auction, and an owner who follows the laws owns the farm within a couple months.
Tomatoes may be more expensive for awhile. Oh well
No man's life, liberty, or property are safe while the legislature is in session

That is already the policy, yet it doesn't happen. You can try to make it work. I'm not getting in your way. While you try to do that which everyone has failed to do so far, we're building a wall.

You guys keep ignoring the part where it doesn't work because the people who own Congress don't want it to work. Businesses want their cheap labor. The mafia wants their drugs.
The minute those with the power want this problem solved, it will be solved.

This is the point you don't understand.
Bullshit, Kath. Everyone understands that. You and I have had this exact conversation before. Remember? I worked on a condo development under Trump's name after the illegals had been fired for fucking everything up? You don't have some secret knowledge that none of us are aware of.
You just refuse to accept that smashing your head into that wall there isn't gonna get anything done. We'll have our wall built before you convince the powerful to give up their cheap labor. Count on it.

Damn it!
Am I going to have to check the social security numbers of the kind folk who shovel my snow every winter against some program which I'll be forced to buy and learn to use? Will I need an EIN? Will cash no longer be good? Do I need another lawyer? What kind of documentation must illegal aliens provide before I can legally hire them?
I'll probably need a chip scanner to prove that the documentation was good in the first place. I'm in trouble now--I can't get shovelled out from the global warming quickly enough to alert the feds that I've detected illegals because the postal employee will not trudge through the snow to deliver or take away my mail. I guess a lot of it may be done electronically--but what about the Russians?
"She had yellow hair and she walked funny and she made a noise like... O my God, please don't kill me! "
I heard secret Russian agents have been streaming across our unsecured border for years now to undermine our electoral process. We should probably do something about that.
The wall won't work. It won't keep them out. They'll keep overstaying their visas nowhere near your wall. People will keep using cheap labor. People will keep taking drugs. This is common economics. There is a need and it will be fulfilled. The only way to solve it is to kill the need.
Now, good luck figuring out how to convince Americans that their food should be more expensive and their drugs aren't as wonderful as they think. The only way to win the war on drugs is not to play. Take away the power of the cartels. Bring it out into the sunshine. Don't demonize pot smokers.
I'm quite confused that you don't want to punish businesses who hire cheap labor. Do you want the illegals gone or not? If you do, you want to control it by enforcing the laws. If you do not, why do you want a wall. Your positions seem to contradict one another.

I would be all for crucifying business that use illegal labor.
Just make sure justice is applied consistently between Big Co. and Little Co.
