American mink are not indigenous to the UK and can do serious damage to the local wildlife.
Just an educated guess, but I'd wager that mink farm had a visit by anti-fur activists at one or several times. Those guys are the main cause of the introduction of american mink into european habitats.
Not that I'm aware of. In this case it seems to have been an escapee.
To be honest I was surprised to hear that we still have mink farms. It is very rare to see anyone in a fur coat these days. I'm guessing that the mink is mostly exported.

Not sure how frequent mink specifically is used, but while full fur coats are becoming rare, fur-trimmed coats and winter jackets are fairly common on the streets here.

Long, long history of starving to death will do that.

They’re like modern-day Vikings, but smaller and more annoying.

Turns out I was right to be surprised. A quick chat with Farmer Paul revealed that the two local mink farms were shut down in the '70s or '80s and the practice has been banned since 2003. The Blair government was the first country to ban fur farming and there are now calls to ban the importation of fur post Brexit. We currently import fur from the EU with France being one of the main suppliers. A positive Brexit story at last.
Mink were first recorded as breeding in the wild here in 1956 with many of the escapees coming from unregulated small scale breeding operations.
So the American mink which has recently arrived on the farm could be several generations removed from a captive mink.

Yeah I totally remembered reading about how Vikings like to boil dogs alive because they think the meat will transfer to them resistance to heat or how they like to tenderize their dog while it's still alive.

Just like the Vikings

Fucking retard.

Not true. The Norse kept dogs & cats as pets, dogs were prized the most

Viking burial grounds show that Vikings actually had their dogs buried with them

Viking dogs went to Valhalla with their masters

Once they started raiding, sure. But there was a whole lot of starving before that.

If that's true than why are pets haram in Denmark today?
