While I am well-aware of the massive amount of government waste, the same thing happens in large private corporations. A section gets its budget for the year, and if they don't spend that much this year, they won't have it to spend again next year.
Its a bureaucratic game of waste and spending, both in the private and public sectors.
It doesn't make me hate taxes anymore, but its cries out that there is a bigger problem with accounting and middle management. Its probably all just people who don't care about working and who are showing up for a paycheck
True fact.
But it just doesn't FEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL as bad when it's a private company, because we all know that they're engines of Freedom.
You guys have no clue what you're talking about.
The same amount of waste DOES NOT happen (for any extended amount of time) in the private sector, because the private sector can't go into infinite debt or raise taxes to stay afloat. There is an accounting for the private sector called shareholder meetings and "the bottom line". An accounting that is completely absent from government jobs.
This is pretty obvious stuff, guys.
Something that should be super obvious to anyone who has actually worked in both.
I've made budgets. I've literally been told to spend more money so "we don't lose it." Every other person in the same position as me who has made budgets in our industry has been told the same thing.
Now granted, I agree with you that private business can't go into infinite debt or raise taxes and that fact alone makes the government more wasteful, but to think that a huge multinational isn't a bloated pig just because it is private is naive.
No man's life, liberty, or property are safe while the legislature is in session

it's funny how you two are trying to convince everyone that private and public work just the same.
fucking pathetically hilarious.
Do you have experience in both environments? Or should we just take your word for it, and ignore our own experiences?
like I said. pathetically hilarious that you have decided to argue that public sector waste is no greater than private sector waste.
just like it was pathetically hilarious when you tried to argue that crime in rural areas was the same as it is in the ghettos of chicago.
there's nothing here worth arguing. you're a loon.

National (Government) Debt: - $19.9 Trillion
National GDP (total value of everything produced by all the people and companies in the country) + $18.46 Trillion
Doesn't seem like the private sector is as wasteful.
Regulatory capture, bailouts, and tax evasion on one side, while the government provides military protection (for the entire western world I might add), infastructure, civil defense (police, laws, judges, prisons), subsidized low wages, and on and on and on. Our government carries all of that and more on its back while huge multinationals are skipping out on taxes.

you are once again trying to prop up more relativist bullshit.
hey man, there's no such thing as good and bad. it's all subjective. /hits bong.
like, statistically man, crime is the same everywhere. you might think a poverty riddled ghetto is worse than a quiet country town, but they're the same.
and private businesses waste just as much money the government.
hey, see if your mom can get us some tickets to see phish /hits bong.
