Tom Selleck is a good actor...……… too bad he lost his best years because Hollywood found out he wasn't a gun grabber.

Magnum PI got better as it went on, the best seasons are the later seasons.

True story, Selleck was originally planned to play Indy in Raiders of the Lost Ark. Not a bad actor at all, but I can't imagine some of my favorite action movies of all time with him as the lead.

In fact, while we are discussing best Film Characters, Indiana Jones has to make the list, as does Sean Connery playing his father in Last Crusade.

Some of the best episodes of all were in the final season, including Unfinished Business, Legend of the Lost Art, A Girl Named Sue, Infinity and Jelly Donuts, and Tigers Fan, never mind the series finale Resolutions which wrapped it up beautifully.

Magnum is not sad, you are sad, and I'm embarrassed to even know you.
Strong words...

But...

I was a kid at the time.

It is possible that the series simply went over my head.
I remember just not getting it... and feeling let down.

If you are vouching for the integrity of the series...
I maintain the possibility that it was my teenaged self, not Magnum PI, that jumped the shark.
This is, in fact, strangely reassuring.
I really want to love Magnum PI... I mean I even considered naming my son Thomas, (never considered Hawkeye) but my wife vetoed.

What's the best way to find the original episodes of Magnum PI on the internetz these days?
It may be time to revisit...

Old Dusseldorf anyone?

Why do you always have to be so negative and insult things that are important to others? Sometimes I disagree with folks on here, but I am able to conduct myself in a wholesome and upright way, and not stoop to crude insults and jabs to make my point. I actually try to make a connection with other people even if they are not like me. Maybe you should take a page from my book...

The Tom Selleck produced seasons are the best seasons, that's where they broke out of the tv gumshoe mold and started having fun with it.

There is a Magnum PI episode where Selleck has fun with it, Legend of the Lost Art, Season 8, Episode 10.

Final season, one of the best episodes of them all.

He made some awesome private detective mini movies in the past ten years.
