The Dow was at 12,600 back in 2012 today it is over 42K... That's a 107.69% increase...1000 isn't the same as it was back then.

The stock market is my second-most disliked thing about Capitalism, the first being intense wealth concentration.SuburbanFarmer wrote: Fri Apr 04, 2025 10:37 am Haven’t seen any difference yet, other than people with 401ks losing their minds. 5-10% haircut is nothing. Wealth concentration is much more extreme under communism.Martin Hash wrote: Fri Apr 04, 2025 10:48 amThe stock market is my second-most disliked thing about Capitalism, the first being intense wealth concentration.SuburbanFarmer wrote: Fri Apr 04, 2025 10:37 am Haven’t seen any difference yet, other than people with 401ks losing their minds. 5-10% haircut is nothing. That’s a false dichotomy. I don't think you know what a Marxist is.Martin Hash wrote: Fri Apr 04, 2025 8:59 amI’ve seen you walking and quacking for a decade; don’t piss down my back and tell me it’s raining.
Pedantic response. You are a disingenuous debater.Montegriffo wrote: Fri Apr 04, 2025 5:29 pmI don't think you know what a Marxist is.Martin Hash wrote: Fri Apr 04, 2025 8:59 amI’ve seen you walking and quacking for a decade; don’t piss down my back and tell me it’s raining.
Have I ever called for the means of production to be seized?
Not really…. Under communism, all assets are divided amongst the government officials. That’s 1% owning 100% of everything.Martin Hash wrote: Fri Apr 04, 2025 11:30 amThat’s a false dichotomy. People actually believe capital gains, which they’ve done nothing productive to earn, just gamble, are more sacrosanct than wages! That’s why I hate the stock market.
People also believe that unproductive people who inherit their money are okay; that all their power & control is deserved. Only billionaires have a say and they often want something to benefit themselves at my expense. That’s why I hate wealth concentration.
I think it’s more likely that you yourself don’t understand Marxism. The Revolution playbook matches that of the Left perfectly. Undermining institutions, and producing infinite social division, to isolate the individual. It’s all in the book dude.Montegriffo wrote: Fri Apr 04, 2025 5:29 pmI don't think you know what a Marxist is.Martin Hash wrote: Fri Apr 04, 2025 8:59 amI’ve seen you walking and quacking for a decade; don’t piss down my back and tell me it’s raining.

It’s not a choice between Capitalism vs Communism. The U.S. had a 90% tax bracket and significant inheritance taxes. Reagan & Clinton reduced the top brackets. Bush Jr. & Obama reduced inheritance taxes. In fact, we were 2 years away from NO inheritance taxes. Fervent Capitalists of the past before those dorks understood the pitfalls.SuburbanFarmer wrote: Fri Apr 04, 2025 5:56 pmNot really….
