No. Statistically, single parent families, especially single mother families, are the absolute worst way to raise children. Widows are an exception.
So why do so many men abandon their families?

My mother left when I was 12 because my father couldn't keep his dick in his pants. She put up with it for years to keep the family together but he couldn't stop fucking anyone who would let him so she left.
My father kept the family home and my sister and I stayed with him.

Men do not abandon children at a significant rate. When single mothers give you that line, know that statistically it is highly likely she alienated the father from his children.
If you can't afford to raise a kid, give it up for adoption. Plenty of fine Christian families that will raise that kid right and teach them about the perils of pre martial sex. In sure they can even work out something where the biological mom can still see the kid once a month or something. Maybe have her wear sunglasses when she sees the kid so he can't see the shiner her new pimp boyfriend gave her. Hes not a bad guy he just shows love differently and he told her she wasn't like the other girls and hes actually going to marry her.
