Sounds like there were about 72 hrs that Austin was out and the Under Sec of Defense was on vacay in the Bahamas and didn't know she was in charge.

The US covers it up to avoid nuclear war. For the Russians to admit that publicly, they’d be making the ultimate gambit. I really doubt they would.

Either way, it’s going to be covered up to save the world.
