If you like I can give you some tips on that situation but as usual I will just upfront say, like I have many times, that if you see government agents in any form, being cops, national guard or airforce, telling you to go somewhere, run in the opposite direction.

Also, I forgot perhaps the most important thing to do in a hurricane. If your friend is telling you to do something do not under any circumstances listen to him. Odds are, you were doing exactly what needs to be done and he is going to get you into trouble.

I'm fucking with ya brother. I know you were in the Superdome. I was just hacking on the Government and their 'official stories' and statements about being fully prepared. Government officials of all stripes have no official requirement to help you in any circumstance. Andy Ngo found that out real damn quick.


The best thing a person can do is prepare to handle shit themselves, your first hand knowledge is appreciated.

Most crisis aren't that long. Ninety Days is a long one. It doesn't take that much to plan and prepare you family to be self sufficient for 90 days.

Certainly true. I was thinking of hurricanes. Katrina, the big one in NYC, etc. People were without services and limited retails sources for about 90 days

Not sure how they got by. The armed forces were there to police and hand out supplies. Seems like life went on as usual for most NO residents.

That is a hell of a lot of work. You’re going to need heavy machinery to get it done in your lifetime.

Depends on the property. More than likely you will need to rent equipment to remove trees, so you should already have to pay for a few weeks usage of a tractor anyway.

Surveying out contour lines and essentially digging trenches along those lines with a tractor does not rate anywhere near the world of fuck my life as pulling stumps and rocks out of the ground.

The main drawback here is that I think you really need some kind of engineer to plan out your retaining walls and tell you how to do it such that you minimize erosion and slumping. Just creating the terraces from a cleared hillside is not your biggest concern at all.
