It's cold and frightening on this first morning after Trump ended the federal government. I hope you all prepared for this, and filled your bathtubs with some drinking water.
Trump gets another first.
First time a government shutdown has ever occured when one party has control of both houses and the presidency.
For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.
The Democrats didn't shut anything down by themselves. Looks like Trump doesn't have control of his own party. Sad.

Oh yes they did. They shut it down over illegal immigrants whom they want to flood into our nation for votes, displacing Americans and destroying economic prosperity.
They are going to burn for this. This is a gift to Trump. Fucking morons, that lot.
Funny, when I point out Democrats had full control of government when they foisted ACA on us instead of single payer the response is always something about having to appease republicans (who still didn’t vote for it).
Today, suddenly, controlling government makes a party responsible for what happens.
Wonder what changed.

If the GOP had a supermajority, we wouldn't be shut down right now. If the GOP had enough seats when Obama care passed, and if that were remotely comparable to what happens when the minority party threatens a filibuster during a budget vote to shut down the government, then I suppose the GOP would have shut down the government.
