I'd be more concerned about why my national team had sent an injured athlete to the games.
They wouldn't.
It appears so.
For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

I've just bought my first bit of Moroccan hash since before covid.
I'm not getting angry about anything for the rest of the day.
Yesterday, a young Hawaiian guy who just got out of the military on a psych disability ($3550/mo + SSI) asked if he could rent one of our spare rooms. (Of which we have a lot since the kids were gone.) (There was already an older Hawaiian guy living here.) He said he was a recovering alcoholic (which is why he couldn't get another place, plus the psych thing), and could he smoke weed. I said I had no problem with weed; in fact, I had some in the freezer, but he had to smoke on the balcony. (His room has a small one.) I don't use weed myself but I drink, my dad's an alcoholic, and this kid needs a benevolent dictator to help out until he gets back on his feet.
Fuck their arrogance. I never expected you to win a gold medal for me. I never felt you owed it to me or anyone else but yourselves. That's where you failed. You owed it to yourselves and each other, because at that point you were a team. Simone failed herself and the rest of her team. Why are they there? To win gold. You didn't win it because your top performer decided to give up.
If she needs, help then get her help, but don't try and make this out to be the best thing she's ever done. All the media fawning over her dropping out is teaching a whole generation that perseverance doesn't matter. Working through adversity doesn't matter. The worst part isn't that she gave up, it's that the media is turning this into some heroic act. The rest of the world is going to OWN us within a generation if this continues.

Dude... They wouldn't... (Do you get what I'm saying?)
Ah, I thought you were saying the national team wouldn't be concerned.
For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

That's the real scandal that this story is covering up.
They eliminate SATs to get the desired people into elite colleges.
