There was a piece on NPR yesterday, interviewing a professor agitating for removal of Robert E Lee statues. Interviewer questioned the wisdom of it, and brought up the slippery slope a number of times.

It's not a monolith, but it has a full head of steam, for sure.

I saw yet another post in my FB feed stating that people standing behind flags of the enemies of America deserve to be treated like enemies of America!

So . . . sucks to be Britain, Canada, Germany, Spain, Mexico, Italy, Russia, countless Native Americans, etc, etc.

I think the failure of the average person to have even a rudimentary grasp of the last 100 years is our biggest problem.

I mean, if we had any context, maybe so many folks wouldnt be so violently utopian and would be like "huh, I am one of the luckiest people ever born", maybe we wouldnt be chomping at the bit to tear down as much of society as we can get our hands on.
