Would you all consider this a shot being fired in the deep state vs anti-state war?

J.P. was disqualified after the election by Vero High Principal Shawn O’Keefe.

“Speeches must focus on reality and pertinent issues,” O’Keefe said in a statement. “The insulting language in this speech was of a nature that created a situation of public humiliation and therefore violated school district rules pertaining to harassment.”

There is no "deep state." There's just the state.

The guy sailed under the black Martian banner for the whole time I'd listened to him, but when the shot started flying he hauled up the precious blue ensign. I always knew his non-partisan schtick was just that--schtick--but when he let his true colors fly unashamedly, I still felt betrayed and insulted. One tries to avoid looking down--tries to retain eye-contact with someone out of sheer urbanity--but when that same someone insists upon continuously propping his feet of clay upon your coffee table....
Plus, his hardcore history episodes were getting worse and worse as well as more and more infrequent, while his common sense nearly disappeared (literally and figuratively. The most interesting election cycle in our lifetime, and he ran out of stuff to say?
I hope he didn't spend his thirty pieces of silver all in one place.

I still like HH. The latest episode was pretty interesting to me. I do agree that he has ran out of interesting stuff to say in CS though, and it has become apparent that his "martian viewpoint" is really just typical left wing analysis. If I am looking for leftwing analysis, I can turn on the tv or read some shitty website like slate. I still feel like Dan puts out a quality history show though.

While I agree that Dan's main purpose of shutting the forum down had to do with brand, its not because he was lying about his beliefs or because he was secretly a left winger. It was because the political forums in its state at that point was frankly toxic. That was why I was an infrequent visitor at that point, if I had been a new user I would have ran for the hills and never looked back. Most threads devolved into the same two people yelling at each other over personal crap. Civil discord was becoming less and less common. The forum had devolved from a good place to discuss and debate ideas, into a high brow 4chan. That was not what Dan wanted his forum to be. He has no one to blame for that other than himself, he never really established a strong set of rules or mod team.

Also, I would disagree that this election was the most interesting election in our age. I found this election cycles to be the most ridiculously stupid election cycle ever. Most of the responses to "controversies" was, "Why should I give a fuck about that?" This was an election cycle for the peons of society. There was little actually interesting stuff going on. Most of it was manufactured bullshit, or just hate to hate. Most everyone agreed that both Clinton and Trump are deplorable human beings. The only way this would have been an interesting election is if a third party was able to take advantage of the mutually disliked candidates by everyone to get a significant amount of votes. Sadly the most likely candidate dropped the ball this election and failed to do anything significantly meaningful, and most likely will lose 90% of their gains in the next election.
