If you mean LA I have no idea. If It's San Salvador, the government used several "elite" battalions foe search and destroy missions and sometimes as extra large mobile death squads. Add the crappy roads and mountainous terrain which made getting anywhere hard sometimes.

Place is dirt poor. Nice people too, but between the former civil war, extremely corrupt, incompetent government, extreme wealth disparity, now violent, well armed gangs that can almost match the military and that controls chunks of the country...they've been screwed.

Don't forget Death Valley. The name is seriously overwrought. For a desert it's kinda interesting, and as long as you use some sense not dangerous.

Of course, I've heard horror stories about people winning the Darwin Award when they didn't.

Yes, LA is full of Beautiful Pod People. It is not like the rest of the state.
I have also heard a lot of bs weird hippie shit is believed and peddled there.
Yes, but it pales in comparison to what's believed in the rich parts of the Bay Area and especially the Redwoods

I don't know that, but West Marin was still in the '60s until the '90, and some Marinites still haven't left.

I will say that the Bay Area's pseudo liberal, corporactic, soulless faux meritocracy is really bothering me. Aside from the weather, everything that made this a nice place is going away, unless you make a 100k or more a year that is.

More California hate

Bureau of economic analysis on per-capita income in states

http://www.cde.ca.gov/nr/ne/yr15/yr15rel69.asp

A quick glance at California universities shows the enormous racial gap in the state. Once libtards in Cali enforce affirmative action again things are going to rapidly change.

Current school enrollment is 50%+ hispanic, 25% non hispanic white, 8% asian. As the demographic changes impact the state more the rise of poverty will only increase

Currently 1/4th of Californians are below the poverty line. This is with some of the highest taxes in the country....

All you have to do is look at education rates for hispanics, avg income for hispanics, and realize 50%+ of the state is now hispanic (trend line)

It's not going to happen overnight but the trajectory is unbelievably clear. The only reason it is in decent shape right now is the state law outlawed affirmative action. That will soon be overturned as the majority demographic, hispanics, will want AA.

It will over time more resemble Mexico/south america

California is entirely a PR trick to make people think it is successful and liberal policies work so well. San Fran is basically a retard trap. It's why Austin Texas and other places are growing so fast in tech. Because the actual standard of living is far higher due to republican/right wing policies and state.

The success of California is smoke and mirrors. Their infrastructure is absolute dog shit and even with funding they basically can't improve anything because of regulation.

The upcoming decline of California is going to be tremendously fast. As the powerhouses of the state can move relatively easily.

here is more info. California is a shit hole. They have diverted tax money for government pensions. The poor is vast and most tech corporations in Cali are Corporate Socialist.

Keep in mind this is with a high concentration of extremely wealth people, hollywood, amazing weather, and coastal locations. This is with silicon valley and the entire technological boom of the last 30 years.

When you factor in the above things look again at the statistics on California. It should be an unbelievable success story but it is in enormous decline, with the majority of the decline still back loaded and hanging over the state.

Nothing, really. I'm just sad about how CA is going straight down the shitter more than I feel any hatred about it.

Yeah, I totally get it. And then it seems like the gulf between the haves and the have-nots is even worse as well. I go to the east bay to visit my family and our town that was always a little rough is now GHETTO. Like East Oakland-Flint Michigan ghetto.

I still feel like there are some working class enclaves in Southern California, although seeing real estate prices makes me feel that's going away too.

People who don't live here will make fun of us, but $100k really does feel like bottom side of middle income if you have a family. Between the housing costs, gas costs, and state taxes we're just fucked. At least our meat and produce is cheap :violin:

Well I would hope so! Seeing as how most of the vegetables are grown here.
