The Wrong Stuff
Boy claims he was fat-shamed by Santa Claus
Anthony's mom says she wants him fired for the insensitive comments.
“I’m hoping he’s fired because I don’t want any kid feeling like he did Saturday. I mean it destroyed him,” she said.

Santa can talk.....
For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

I'm a little torn on this, because no adult should ever break a kid like that, but when is the age that we need to tell kids that they need to start watching their weight?
How soft do you have to ease into it?

Start by shaming the parents for what could amount to a form of child abuse / neglect. Not in all cases, but many.
I think some of us were set up for it genetically, and to compound that, developing in the womb of a mother who has extra fat seems to amplify the effect.
Then you have poor lifestyle and dietary behaviors taught to children by parents who don't care about their own condition, much less the condition of their kids. That's where we should apply pressure, since that represents the beginning of autonomous choices perpetuating the generational cycle.
A fat kid still has the potential to break the cycle, get fit, and properly raise his own children.

Re: The Wrong Stuff
While reading a thread back on the dcf on..."food oasis"(?), parts of US cities with a limited supply of things like fresh vegetables, I went on Google maps to see if I was visible there.
What I noticed instead was that most cities didn't have lanes for bicycles and there were parts of cities without even sidewalks. Industrial parts, sure, but it was still within a few mins walking distance of residential areas .
Incorperating excersise into the daily routines is probably more manageable for most. But a better infrastructure for pedestrians and bicyclists might be good.

Being a chef, I am around food all day and it can be easy to slip into bad habits and eat the wrong food. I try to walk or cycle when possible and regular juggling and table tennis would help if I was better motivated.

Fatties are kinda setup to fail though. We let all kinds of bullshit get bandied about with regard to healthy food, cause it helps sell shit, and then we have lobbyists that make sure government can't, "mess with our freedoms."
I mean, I made it out alright, but kids today might as well have coke and mcdonald's branded on their double triple chin cause their porker little mouth is owned. We're not gonna fund any education that teaches them or their parents differently because "the science isn't in."
Sorry Johnny, only thing in your stocking is pre-diabetes and an unkind internet that's going to make your mother really regret making this a story.

Good regular exercise is as important anyway, I will never start up a car or turn on a power tool if their is an old fashioned alternative like actually walking up steps instead of riding an elevator or using a bow saw for firewood instead of a chainsaw.
