What's the price for a back surgery?

Post by Fife » Fri Jan 27, 2017 4:30 pm

Is there any legitimate reason I can't price out a surgical procedure like I can price out the cost of a new transmission?

ANY?

None to get a base price. Insurance reimbursement could get you a jumping off point, but good luck even getting that.

Dam, Fife is getting old  ....better than not getting old though

Shop around, but don't go discount....try calling the medical bar office in your area (or whatever the MDs calm it).

$19,000 for a knee replacement? What a rip off, you can get a double knee replacement done in Cuba, for only $5,900.

^^^This is why you can't price it out. NO ONE is willing to "go discount" on back surgery, or virtually any other major procedure. Everyone wants the FUCKING VERY BEST. Medicine is a natural monopoly, NO ONE is willing to compromise.

Maybe they should auction them on eBay.

You can blame business schools and their insistence on "the art of the deal" and middle eastern bazaar-style haggling for high prices.

Providers and drug companies inflate prices because they know that insurance companies are going to haggle them down.
