If that's the sort of hate you're talking about, you're even more wrong than I thought you were:

Sure, Germany is just shy of mostly positive, and sure Russians really hate the US (they like you even less than Palestinians), or at least views you less favorably. But generally, Europe views you in a positive light.

Can't find a link to surveys of what all the European countries feel about the US or Americans, but from my national perspective, I don't see or hear any hate. There is confusion and... perplexion (?) as to why we've started celebrating US holidays over the course of the last two decades (Halloween and St. Valentines Day - and I'm sure they're not US origined, but that's how they became known here - as US holidays). But those who are frustrated with those American cultural imports along with other smaller ones, including linguistic imports, all direct their frustration at the actual culprits: Danish business interests, because it's them who introduced it here when I was a kid- not any Americans. Most Danes don't really give a crap about even that to actually hate it.

Oh, and your ambassador to my country somehow became a very popular sort of "reality star" through a Danish public television, two-season documentary series. Most ambassadors here don't really attract alot of attention or publicity. Don't think I can actually name any US ambassador to our country, ever. Think he was one of those appointed personally by Obama, rather than a professional diplomat. Believe he used to be an actor, actually. Rufus Gifford, if that rings any bells?

I've found people my age tend to "like" America. There's still a lot of us around. Take my cohort out of the German numbers and what would the "hate" index be? France? Even the U.K.

What? The Millennials?

The resurgence of Rightwing extremists has been due to the political "Right" has been actively planning, and working, to marginalize whatever it deems the political Left and become as powerful as they can since at least the late 60s. William Buckley and his National Review, Barry Goldwater, Nixon's Southern Strategy, the Powell Memorandum, union busting from the 70s onwards, ALEX(American Legislative Exchange Council), The Koch Brothers massive funding, and on and on. All that followed by the combined Establishment's failures has led to the collapse of the Democratic Party.

But as it is now, the current Neoconservative establishment right has fallen to Trump, and his establishment Reactionary allies in the Right, just as the Neoliberal establishment as represented by the Clintons, and their allies, to actual liberals in the Left although no extreme elements yet threatened the Democratic Party.

The collapse of the Republican Party is likely to happen in 4-8 years.

I didn't follow that.

I'm a Democrat. Hell, I ran for office last year. The Right hasn't changed much, if anything, it's lost its way, that's why Trump, an obvious Liberal, could come in and kick their asses. It's The Left that's Off-The-Hook. Hell, they had an avowed Socialist that SHOULD have been their candidate. And the dominance of social issues by The Left is overwhelming: bathrooms, gender pronouns, White privilege, etc. This skewing pushed me to support Trump. I would not have voted for any of the Republicans because I'm a Liberal, but I'm not a Progressive.

^^^ is true, the Right has been using things like talk radio for decades to build this angry base against policies that they, logically should be in support of, since they are not rich. Like Unions, during the time of my grandfather, unions were like the best things that could've happen to workers here in the US but on they are not only look down on but also look down with contempt.

What's your estimate what will happen now to the Democratic Party, Martin?

Is there soul searching for just what happened and why the party ended up with such a loser candidate?

I'll know better when I get back to my local District meetings, but from past experience, The Left smells blood in the water & even though they lost this round, they figure to win the next, so I suspect they will double-down. They didn't much like me before. Really, Dems don't want any OWGs: they just want women, and men who act like women.

Yeah, I guess the progressives will make the effort to double down as the party "has forgotten it's roots". And they obviously are those "roots". Interesting to see what the Bernie supporters will do (or will they now fade away). The worst case scenario is that the democrats will simply the democrats tell themselves that they didn't do anything wrong: that they won the popular vote and only because of Comey and Putin they lost the actual one.

Please tell how it went then, it's nice to listen how all of this goes on the "grass roots" level of a party.
