A room inspection every morning? Fuck me, we would have mutinied, we had a room inspection once every ninety days, they pretty much left us alone, in our barracks, there was a barracks warden, and we had civilian cleaners to clean the bathrooms, so it actually stayed pretty clean, the senior in every block would make sure the block was clean.

Lol my first barracks actually was a huge shit head company. We would roll out to 3rd mess with like three people on the batallion square.

"DELTA COMPANY. ALL PRESENT AND ACCOUNTED FOR SIR!"

It didn't belong to me. It belonged to the Army. If they wanted to make sure I wasn't fucking up their shit, I had no call to object.

Put me up in a nicer place than I've ever lived in, and I'm not paying for it? I'll take care of it.

Once I was married and in my own place, things changed. No one was coming into MY house to make any checks, but as long as I was staying in THEIR digs, they were perfectly entitled to make sure I wasn't fucking up their shit.

Hey, we're fuckin' Canadian, eh? If you jack us up with daily room inspections, we'll burn this mother down, actually did burn the Kyrenia Club down, when the government disbanded the Airborne Regiment, we could mutiny, don't think it's against the laws of physics.

Don't need to flog us to the breach, but don't push your luck, motherfuckers, never said we weren't rowdy, this ain't America here, we ain't putting up with that daily room inspection shit, unless we're on course or defaulters.

It let up after a while. That was during the surge. Years later it was more like once a month or so.

For us, garrison was kind of work and home, work is the Battalion HQ complex, we called it the Death Star, that's where shit was formal and tight assed, back in our barracks, that was home, where they tended to give us our own space and let us run our own affairs, unless we did something to call shit down on our pos.
