Great lineup
Boris is keeping his head down after the Iran fuck up, Farage is busy banging his immigrant wife and Jacob Rees-Mogg had to stay home this week to help his nanny choose next weeks neckties.
Who else have you heard of in British politics?

May is known as ''the submarine'' for staying hidden when things are difficult. Don't remember her being on QT since the last election. Khan is on occasionally but he has his Islamic conquest to organise so he's too busy most weeks.

Yup, it's like mass shootings in the US, there is absolutely nothing anyone can do to prevent future attacks. Best thing we can do is search for a scapegoat to blame all our problems on. I blame the Amish.

No. The BBC has no adverts and therefore no corporate masters.
You can watch any other TV station online without a licence.
The fee's collected from the licence and selling programs abroad are spent on programming. There is no-one collecting the profits and the government doesn't get it's hands on a single penny. What's not to like?
So the BBC is more or less like HBO?

Your government doesn't steal from itself to fund other things? Here in the US we'd pay a license and none of it would actually go for the TV, it would be lost in the general fund somewhere

The point of the license is to keep Public Service independent from government interference. The will get a predictable amount of money no matter what they do.

That's the beauty of the licence fee. It has an opt out unlike simply coming out of your taxes like your public broadcaster. If you don't want to pay for the BBC don't buy a licence and don't watch their programs. The money goes to the BBC directly so the gov't can't divert it to one of their pet projects.
