Universal Healthcare

Post by Martin Hash » Wed Feb 24, 2010 7:49 pm

Let’s be clear: the only people without “universal healthcare” are the American Middle Class: the “poor” have it, the rich have it, public employees, the military has it, veterans have it, the elderly have it, even prisoners have it – it’s only you who doesn’t have it. Worse, the powerful insurance industry has changed the debate to “universal health INSURANCE”!? We don’t want no stinkin’ insurance – we want healthcare! The second problem is that those who want universal healthcare claim the system is “broken” but the opposition points at the level of care in the U.S. and say it’s fine. In this regard, we are all responsible for that misconception because Americans, in general, don’t like to incur debts we can’t pay - so rather than receive needed medical attention and checkups, those who can’t afford it, go without. In these dire economic times, and speaking as a past bankruptcy attorney, let me suggest a strategy that is certain to change the business of medicine now! If you’re “uncollectible” (low net worth, no job), go to any hospital emergency room and demand healthcare. Legally, they must serve you, no matter what the ailment. Bring the business of medicine to its knees. Show the country that healthcare is indeed broke. Don’t worry that you’re exploiting the system – consider it as supporting your fellow Americans who don’t have healthcare.
